Boiled Linseed Oil (BLO) is a wood treatment that enhances the natural colors and texture of wood by penetrating deep into the grain. Unlike Raw Linseed Oil, BLO has drying agents added to it, which allows for a faster drying process. This added layer of protection is created once the oil has cured and polymerized, and the wood must be retreated every six months to a year to maintain the finish.

The application process is straightforward. First, the wood surface must be cleaned and free of debris. Then, the first coat of BLO is applied using a cloth, brush, or roller, allowing the oil to soak into the wood for 10 to 15 minutes. Excess oil should be thoroughly wiped away to prevent a sticky surface. For optimal protection and preservation, 2 to 3 coats should be applied at 12 to 24 hour intervals.
